From paper chains to Greek verbs, God has been using Scripture to reshape my life.I was nine years old when my Sunday School teacher handed me a challenge: memorize Scripture. Every verse earned me a link in a paper chain—and by year’s end that chain wrapped around the room. What I didn’t realize was that it was also wrapping around me, tying my heart to God’s Word in a way I’ve never outgrown.
Since then, Scripture has been my trail companion. I’ve read it through little devotionals like My Daily Bread, wrestled with it in seminary classrooms, fallen in love with inductive study, and been surprised by the Spirit’s whisper through lectio divina. From paper chains to Greek verbs, from well-worn devotionals to quiet walks on the trail, Scripture keeps reshaping me.
This week, I want to share some of what I’m still learning about the Bible—the book that has carried me, challenged me, and keeps opening new paths every time I return to it.
Janet! Isn’t that a terrible feeling. I recorded an hour and 15 guest whose time I didn’t wanna waste a couple weeks ago and finished and the stop record button on zoom and it said this call is being recorded. Ha ha! I had that same gut wrenching feeling of embarrassment and regret.
