I had some quiet moments this evening and so was able to listen to this. I loved that you said "Habits trump intentions," and then give practical habits that have worked for you. I feel like I've had a lot of intentions but the habits have a hard time forming and sticking. I do have a pretty steady habit of getting up early every morning to read my Bible and pray, but am easily distracted. I love your idea of tracing words that catch your attention and I will start to try that. I think that will help me focus more and become distracted less. Thank you for this.

Hi, Karen. Thanks for your read and comments! I will look forward to hearing about some of the habits that begin to work for you. I think having freedom to experiment with a practice is important. That is how I stumbled onto the “tracing” of key words. I was also fighting distractions and lists of things to do. And one day realized going “old school” and using a pen on paper to trace words might help me slow down and settle down. It did. So give yourself some freedom to experiment with how reading scripture, praying, etc., can be shaped into habits that really work for you.
