There was a time—not long ago—when I could open the Bible in a public place and expect a certain baseline of reverence. Even among skeptics, there was a sense that these pages held weight.
That time is fading.
In some places, the Bible is still opened. But it is no longer free.
And when the Word is not free, neither are we.
