O KEY OF DAVID
O Key of David, opening the gates of God’s eternal Kingdom: come and free the prisoners of darkness!
THE SCRIPTURE READINGS: ISAIAH 22:22 & 42:7 AND REVELATION 3:7
Read the antiphon one more time. Then read the Isaiah prophecies about the doors the Messiah will open.
"I will place the key of David’s house on his shoulder; no one will shut what he opens; no one will open what he shuts." (Isaiah 22:22)
"I selected you and sent you to bring light and my promise of hope to the nations so that you can open blind eyes, free the prisoners from confinement,
those living in darkness from the dungeon. (Isaiah 42:7)
Again, read the O Antiphon. Then read the text from the Apocalypse, Revelation 3:7
Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open.” (Revelation 3:7)
O COME, O COME, EMMANUEL
Here is an accompanying hymn of Christmas that matches the O Antiphon. You can get it HERE:
