You’ll find several resources to help you center your life today in a deeper awareness of Jesus. First, a centering scripture. Next, a spoken prayer. Third, a prayer exercise will help you find the prayer language that best fits your situation. If art moves you, you’ll find a worship song that flows with the scripture and the prayer. Finally, you’ll find a list of resources to help you move out of the spiritual shallows into the depths of spirituality, where Jesus can be a constant present for your day.
Centering Scripture: John 15:15 & Exodus 33:11
Centering Prayer
Read these words from Jesus’ last supper with his followers several times. It will only take 2-3 minutes to read it several times. Be aware that God will use a word or a word picture to hook your attention. When that happens, quit reading and meditate on what drew you into the words. In your journal, write the prayer that comes to you as you meditate on what captured your attention. Your prayer might take many forms: a heartfelt statement, poetry, or a sketch. What is important is that it represents the movement stirring your heart as you read the provocative Word of God.
