You’ll find several resources to help you center your life today in a deeper awareness of Jesus. First, a centering scripture. Next, a spoken prayer. Third, a prayer exercise will help you find the prayer language that best fits your situation. If art moves you, you’ll find a worship song that flows with the scripture and the prayer. Finally, you’ll find a list of resources to help you move out of the spiritual shallows into the depths of spirituality, where Jesus can be a constant present for your day.
Centering Scripture: Psalm 29:3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and Matthew 11:15
Centering Prayer
Read these provocative words of Jesus several times. Pause between readings. It will only take 2-3 minutes to read it several times. Be aware that God will use a word or a word picture to hook your attention. When that happens, quit reading and meditate on what drew you into the words. In your journal, write the prayer that comes to you as you meditate on what captured your attention. Your prayer might take many forms: a heartfelt statement, poetry, a confession, a question, or a sketch. What is important is that it represents the movement stirring your heart as you read the Word of God that uncovers and stirs up things deep within us.
Centering Worship: Word of God Speak
This song by Mercy Me might help open your heart as you contemplate what happened to Jesus at crucifixion. You can find it HERE. It will take 3:09 minutes.
