WHAT TREKKING IS

Like this newsletter, Trekking is an invitation to deep personal and cultural transformation. While the standard and superficial practices of contemporary North American church are being soundly rejected in this cultural moment, Trekking will take you on a journey into ancient, contemplative spirituality to help you retrieve the powerfully transformative ideas, practices, and rhythms that have been, until recently, the hallmark of Christian faith. Weaving together stories of ancient pilgrims who hungered for a deeper life with God with stories of my own transforming encounters with God, you’ll find interior ways and rhythms that will lead to your own spiritual growth, healing, and transformation. At times, you’ll trek with me over the ancient El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in northern Spain where, with the help of these ancient, contemplative practices, I verified their power to heal deep, interior places that have been marked by wounds, losses, sins, and rejections. As you journey, you’ll discover, and be challenged, by practices such as lectio divina, contemplation, simplicity, and the Jesus Prayer. Your soul awakening with the help of these ancient practices that lead to a deeper life with Jesus, in the last section of Trekking you will find spiritual practices that will show you how to bring the healing you are experiencing back into your community, church, and culture.

You’ve been helping me get spiritual formation ideas and practices “out there” by reading, becoming paid subscribers, sharing the newsletter with friends, and just by “liking” a specific post. I recognize this is a choice you make and I deeply appreciate all of the above actions!

Amazon (and all other outlets where you purchase your books) uses early sales and reviews to wake up their marketing algorithms regarding available books. Once their internal algorithms are alerted to the book, it becomes much easier for people anywhere and anytime to just organically find it when they search for books on spiritual growth, discipleship, spirituality, prayer, etc.

If you would be willing to help, I want to make available a special offer as a way to say “thank you:” I’m going to be putting the e-book (Kindle) version of Trekking on discount for the first week for just $0.99. That way you can grab an early copy super cheap. After one week, the price will go up to a normal cost for e-books. (There will also be available a paperback version available from day one for a normal cost if you simply do not use e-books.)

• A “2” means you are willing to buy a $0.99 copy and write a review. You might not be willing to tell your friends online about it because your not that active online and that is just not your thing. That is totally O.K. 😊
